Cambridge B1 Academy

Every Part of B1 Preliminary, One Exam at a Time

TCKR Labs - FZCO School packages: No

Cambridge B1 Academy takes the whole B1 Preliminary (PET) and splits it into its parts, so you can practise one task at a time. There are 1,071 exams across Reading, Use of English, Listening, Writing and Speaking, every question comes with an explanation, and you can open the first exam of each part in your browser without even creating an account.

Why Cambridge B1 Academy works so well for PET

Most B1 apps hand you a pile of mixed exercises and leave you to work out how they map onto the real exam. Cambridge B1 Academy, built by TCKR Labs, does the opposite. It is organised exactly like the B1 Preliminary papers, part by part, so you always know which task you are practising and what it will look like on exam day. There are 1,071 exams in total, and each one is a complete part of the exam rather than a handful of loose questions.

Every paper, broken into its parts

Reading is the biggest section, with 303 exams across Signs & Notices, People Matching, Long Text and Missing Sentences. Use of English adds 156 Multiple Choice and Open Cloze exams. Listening has 111 exams covering Pictures, Different Situations, Gapped Text and Multiple Choice, Writing has 180 Email, Article and Story tasks, and Speaking has 321 exams for General Questions, Photograph Description, Paired Discussion and Final Discussion. Every exam is marked out of 10, and 6 or more counts as a pass, which gives you a simple way to judge how close you are to the 140 you need on the Cambridge English Scale.

Explanations you actually learn from

When you check your answers, you can open the explanation for each question to see why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong. If an exam went badly, reset it and try again a few days later. That loop of attempt, read and retry is where most of the progress happens at B1, and the app makes it effortless.

Listening and Speaking that feel like the real thing

The listening player lets you pause, jump back ten seconds and change the speed, and the full transcript is there whenever you need it. My favourite detail is that each explanation links to the exact moment in the recording where the answer was said, so you can hear what you missed instead of guessing. For Speaking, every task comes with its photographs, questions and timings. You record yourself, listen back and go again, and your recordings stay on your device.

Writing corrected by AI

You write your email, article or story with a live word counter that keeps you inside the exam range, then ask for a correction. Back comes a score, written feedback, suggestions and a list of your grammar and spelling mistakes. Each correction uses one AI credit, and a free account starts with two, which is plenty to see how useful it is.

A full mock when you are ready

The Exam Simulator puts a whole paper in front of you, Reading, Listening or Writing, with a clock running and no answers until you hand it in. Afterwards you review every part with its score and your time next to the real exam's. When you want something new, the Exam Generator writes a fresh exam on a topic you choose.

  • 1,071 B1 Preliminary exams: laid out part by part, exactly like the official papers.
  • Answers and explanations: a score out of 10 for every exam and an explanation for every question.
  • Real audio: adjustable speed, ten-second skips, full transcripts and explanations linked to the recording.
  • AI Writing correction: a score, feedback, suggestions and a mistake list for emails, articles and stories.
  • Speaking recorder: every task with its photos and timings, and recordings that never leave your device.
  • Exam Simulator and Exam Generator: full timed papers, plus new AI-written exams on any topic.
  • Tips, notes and dictionary: strategies for every part, model answers for every Writing task and word look-ups without leaving the exam.
  • Progress tracking and Lingo: weekly scores, a study streak and a daily game of short English challenges.

Who I'd recommend it to

If you are preparing for B1 Preliminary and want one place that covers all five papers, this is an easy recommendation. It suits learners who like to work through the exam methodically, one part at a time, and then test themselves on a full paper. You can try it at cambridgeacademy.app straight away: the first exam of every part is open without an account, and a free account adds a second exam in every part, one simulated exam and two AI credits.
